5 Easy Ways to Style Your Patio for Spring

how to style your patioWhen spring begins to bloom, it’s time to redesign your outdoor living spaces to celebrate the season. At Camelot Homes, we specialize in remodeling and designing luxury homes. But even if you are not an expert, creating the perfect spring style for your patio doesn’t have to be complicated.

Here are five do-it-yourself ideas to create the perfect designer look:

1. Play with Color

According to Pantone, the world-renowned authority on color, the color of the year for 2017 is greenery—a nature-inspired color that is ideal for spring. Add this color to patio décor via a painted pot filled with vibrant silk flowers or to pillows and patio chairs. For added flair, accent with a patterned throw featuring a bright yellow or blue.

2. Bring in Geometric Patterns

Geometric patterns are a hot trend for spring style. Look for geometric patterns in an outdoor throw rug or a pair of pillows for the patio furniture. An outdoor pouf with a geometric pattern is an easy way to add style.

3. Go Vintage Chic

A vintage metal bucket or one that is antiqued in a white or other light color is perfect for a bouquet of colorful silk wildflowers or traditional tulips in an array of red, yellow, purple and white. Choose any spring flower, from the blue bachelor’s buttons to the white Shasta daisies, bold gerberas, hyacinth and zinnias. Don’t forget to incorporate a few Arizona native flowers, even when decorating with silk stems. Look to the brightly colored poppies, owl’s clover and elegant delphinium.

4. Add Classic Hanging Plants

The fern, one of the most classic hanging plants found on patios across the county, does well in Arizona. While the traditional Boston fern is a good choice, consider the shade-loving Kimberly Queen fern (sword fern) or the Dallas fern. The Kimberly Queen fern also thrives in containers and can grow about three feet tall.

5. Create a Conversation Spot

Before the heat of summer sets in, plan to spend some time relaxing on the patio. This means creating a cozy conversation spot with comfortable furniture, ample shade, a gentle breeze from a ceiling fan and a table to set your drink.
