Is It Something In The Water?

Employee turnover is a normal part of the business cycle. Regardless of how happy you make the people who work for you, or how enjoyable your company may be to work for, from time to time people will leave, whether to retire or relocate, or just in response to changing circumstances in their lives. At Camelot Homes we have been lucky enough to have many employess work for us from 10-25 years and more. We like to think of the people who work for us as an extension of our family business. Since half of our family is in the business of homebuilding, the family environment sort of comes to the office with us anyway.

Karla Schwan our Human Resources Manager, is one of our special “family” members. Karla began working for us here at Camelot Homes almost 20 years ago in 1993. Camelot’s owner Julie Hancock recalls every time a teary eyed Karla announced that she and her husband were expecting another baby. By the time she announced her fourth pregnancy Julie began to wonder, “Could it be something in the water?”

Now, years later, Karla’s 18 year old daughter Kandis (pictured above and below) is a high school senior and works in Camelot’s design studio. Karla’s oldest daughter Krista is now married and living in Colorado with her husband Keaton and their brand new baby Kaedyn Lee Davis. If history repeats itself, Kaedyn will be a third generation to take on his first summer job here with us at Camelot Homes in 2028!
