Setting the Perfect Easter Table – Hop to It!

Easter Sunday is almost here, and if you’re like most of us, you will soon be opening your home to family and friends. For many, the celebration will include a lovely holiday meal – be it breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner. Whether your guests arrive from near or far, one surefire way to extend a warm welcome is with an attractive tablescape. Following are a few suggestions to help you achieve the perfect table setting:

1. Let your table work with the meal, not against it. A beautiful table adorned by beautiful food is the perfect combination. White china is a reliable choice to make your food look great – it doesn’t conflict with the color of the food.

2. Create a centerpiece. It doesn’t have to be fancy – even something as simple as pretty bowls or elegant vases can add a charming touch. Another fun option is to create an edible centerpiece – a large bowl of fruit can double as an unexpected (and delicious) centerpiece.

3. Don’t be afraid to incorporate color! Cloth napkins and mixed patterns are easy ways to bring life to your table. Menu cards and/or place cards can also be used to add color – hand writing the info keeps them informal and personal.

4. Mix vintage flatware for a modern, collected look.

5. Flowers and other greenery are always a welcome sight this time of year. Be sure to keep them reasonably sized – so people can still see/talk to one another “through” them.
