The Master Bedroom at Bocara

Labor Day weekend is just around the corner, and this year an estimated 33 million Americans will hit the road for their last summer adventure. While a good percentage of people will be checking into hotels and resorts across the country, many travelers will be spending their holiday as a guest in the home of friends or family. There are two distinct schools of thought on this; people who would always opt for the privacy of a hotel room, or those for whom staying with their loved ones is the only way. Taking into account that most Camelot Homes are built with a “flex” room (the term meaning “flexible”) which can be made into an office or a guest room, we have a few ideas for using it as the latter.

To begin with, and we say this only slightly tongue in cheek, you need to determine your goals with regard to the duration of your guest’s stay. Truthfully, do you want to offer every imaginable amenity? If so, the possibilities are endless, but beware that your guest may not want to leave. Feel free to add or delete these creature comforts on an as needed basis.

High quality bedding- There is no feeling quite so splendid as crawling into a bed with luxurious sheets; a fact that five star hotels have always maintained, and truly what distinguishes good hotels from great. If you have a guest room with Four Seasons quality sheets and a plasma t.v. why would anyone want to stay anywhere else? An empty chest of drawers- For the guest who likes to nest, there’s something appealing about the idea of spreading your things out and settling in. If you’re of the mind set that that your guests should get in and out quickly, there’s always the folding luggage stand. Either way, do remember to provide nice quality hangers in the closet. A well appointed night stand- Provide a reading lamp, a book of short stories, and a dish to hold watches and earrings. Amenities in the guest bathroom- Accoutrements, if you will; a blowdryer, toothbrushes and toothpaste, anything your guest may have forgotten. A bouquet of fresh flowers- The most gracious way of telling your guests that you’re happy they came for a visit. You are happy, right?
