The Home Office

Camelot Custom Home- Verandah at Silverleaf

In the last decade there has been a noticeable trend toward working from home. Contrary to popular belief, the typical teleworker is not 20-something, or even the working mother who may depend on this continuing trend so they can be parenting and working at the same time. The largest demographic of people working from home is the baby-boomers, and it’s no wonder they have embraced working remotely, when you take into consideration the flexibility that comes from working in your own home office.

Yahoo’s chief executive Marissa Mayer recently declared that her company’s employees will no longer be able to work from home, and while much of the uproar over her decision was focused on the impact it would have on young working moms, this decision also has serious implications for men and women in their 40s, 50s and 60s. Many of the baby boomer generation face work-life challenges just as vexing as those of young parents, including long commutes, doctor appointments and the unpredictable demands of caring for aging parents.

Whichever side of this issue you and your employer are on, this is where we come in: at Camelot Homes we have always recognized the need for a flex room and these days many of our homebuyers are using it to create their own beautiful space in which to work. Whether you are working from home part-time or every day, you can have an office either inside the house or by transforming one of our attached “guest casitas” into the office of your dreams.

The grass is always greener…
